Fall storm: torrential rains over Quebec over the weekend

Storm Nicole did a lot of damage in Florida, but its remnants will not spare Quebec, which will be swept by very strong winds accompanied by significant amounts of rain during the weekend.

In Montreal, in Montérégie and a good part of the sectors of south-eastern Quebec, such as Estrie and Beauce, it is expected, under temperatures above normal for the season, from 40 to 60 millimeters of rain as of Friday evening. , which may cause flooding.

If the southwest is theoretically spared by the storm, the northern sectors such as Abitibi and Lac-Saint-Jean will be affected by an episode of ice on Friday morning with accumulations of 15 to 25 millimeters in places.

Intermittent rain is expected for the weekend for several sectors in the center of the province, in particular the Capitale-Nationale, Mauricie and Saguenay which are not affected by the Environment Canada alert.

However, the federal agency has issued a special weather report for the eastern sectors of the province, in particular the Bas-Saint-Laurent, the Gaspésie and the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, sectors which will be particularly wet under seasonal temperatures.

Thus, the fall storm will bring up to 50 millimeters of rain Friday evening and Saturday, but the precipitation could change the next day to wet snow to give a beautiful winter setting, with a lower mercury.
