Failed from several castings, Corinne Touzet makes shocking revelations

Everyone knows her! Between 1996 and 2008, she played the character of Isabelle Florent in the television series “Woman of Honour” on TF1. A sexy and inflexible policewoman whom Corinne Touzet has decided, after twelve years of good and loyal service, to leave. “It was very brave of the producer, Christian Ferlet, to have given this role to a woman. Especially since it was his first television series”, she admits. Nevertheless, beyond her role as an actress, she was never given the opportunity to make the slightest suggestion of interpretation or scenario. She therefore preferred to take off and emancipate herself. She explains: “It was a time when we had very little leeway as an actress. For example, my heroine has never had affairs. I remember I kept asking that she could go clubbing or get drunk at least once in her life.” Unfortunately, the wish of the actress has never been granted. “It wasn’t weariness that made me leave because I loved my character. But I wanted to suggestthings and they weren’t listening to me. It was supposed that I stay in my place as an actress, that the spectators are not destabilized. So I decided to leave to set up my own production company”.

“Fashion was Miou-Miou and Sandrine Bonnaire”

A freedom acquired today but which was certainly not in the mores of the 1980s, at the time of its beginnings. “Without wanting to add to it, the 1980s for female actors were absolutely terrible. Me, I drooled over it. When I arrived in the world of cinema, fashion was Miou-Miou and Sandrine Bonnaire. As a result, at each casting, I was told that I was too fat or too typical since I have tanned skin”deplores the actress of Caribbean and Italian origin, who is delighted that the current era has overcome these ridiculous preconceptions: “Now, young women are independent and free in relation to their bodies. They assume and dress as they want. I admire them. We, at the time, we could not do it”.

Producer of eleven TV movies and now showing a single on stage called “Europeana, a brief history of the 20th century”she confides her happiness:“By carrying out my own projects, I was finally able to be free. On the boards, I feel good, anything can happen to me”.And does not hide his pride:“Every day, at the end of my show, there are people waiting for me to tell me: I had never been to the theater in my life. It is my greatest pride”.
