“I am quite shocked and I have the impression that this is an almost reactionary speech”, denounced, Sunday, September 11 on franceinfo, the regional councilor of Hauts-de-France and co-treasurer of Europe Ecology-The Greens Marine Tondelier. The elected official reacts after the controversy triggered by the communist Fabien Roussel on Saturday at the Fête de l’Humanité. In Essonne, the former PCF candidate for the presidential election criticized the “allowance left” who would not speak to the rural working classes, especially in the North where he is a deputy.
“The left, environmentalists should lead the cultural battle over our values and not go hunting in other lands. This bothers me philosophically”added Marine Tondelier, suspecting Fabien Roussel of using a “strategy to shock to get people talking about him”because, according to her, “it is not the first time”.

“The problem is not pitting the middle class against people on the lowest incomes, but against the rich who don’t pay taxes and who destroy the planet”continued Marine Tondelier.

Regarding the strength of the Nupes alliance, of which Fabien Roussel is a part, the elected ecologist considers that“we must not force the line on what divides us”. However, according to her, “when we have fun trolling like Fabien Roussel does, we have to reaffirm our values”.
