Expense Allowances | The opposition demands the resignation of Valérie Plante’s right arm

Shocked by spending allocations that it considers exaggerated, the official opposition at Montreal city hall calls on the president of the executive committee Dominique Ollivier to leave her functions.

Aref Salem, leader of Ensemble Montréal, believes that Mme Ollivier will no longer be the big money maker of the Plante administration.

Dominique Ollivier must “be removed from her position as president of the executive committee,” Mr. Salem launched on social networks on Monday. “She no longer has the credibility necessary to be the guardian of the finances of Montreal taxpayers. »

At issue: revelations from Montreal Journal on the expenditure allocations of the management of the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM), at the time when Mme Ollivier was its leader. For several days, the daily revealed that the leaders of this small organization frequently met in upscale restaurants and multiplied costly missions abroad, using public funds.

Mme Ollivier notably billed nearly $18,000 in restaurant expenses over 4 years, including an oyster meal in Paris for $347 with a collaborator and ex-business partner.

“It’s very, very clear to me, all the expenses […] were made in accordance with the framework of the OCPM and were made in accordance with the employment contract that I had”, defended Dominique Ollivier, in the Montreal Journal. “All the expenses I have made, to the best of my knowledge, meet all the criteria. »
