Saturday October 21, many environmental activists demonstrated in Tarn against the construction project of the A69 motorway. A gathering which gave rise to scenes of chaos.
Dozens of hooded individuals attack the buildings of a real estate developer. A few kilometers further, a cement factory was set on fire. The demonstration in Tarn against the A69 motorway project saw radical elements sow chaos on the sidelines of the processions. After degrading the two companies linked, according to them, to the highway construction site, some erected barricades on the departmental road. The police report 80 very violent people.
No reversing
In all, six processions set off at the start of the afternoon, Saturday October 21, from the town of Saix (Tarn), in very different atmospheres. Collectives mobilized to say “no” to the A69 motorway between Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and Castres (Tarn). Among these activists, Thomas Brail, emblematic figure of the protest. He climbed trees to protect them, went on a hunger and thirst strike, here and in Paris. But as of today, all the alignment trees are down. “Today, we want to make people understand that we are talking about trees because if it rains less and less, it’s because we have fewer and fewer trees”, according to him. The State has reaffirmed that the A69 project will be completed.
