The relatives of a young student who aspired to become a paramedic and who fought forest fires this summer with the Canadian army have been swimming in total incomprehension since he was shot and killed at the end of November in the Saint -Leonard.
“It’s very difficult to understand, everyone loved Samy, he was sociable. Her absence is really felt,” confides with emotion Inas Belabar, a friend and class colleague of the victim.
On November 30, Samy Alioueche was murdered while he was in a vehicle in the Saint-Léonard district.
Montreal police are investigating the murder of the 19-year-old young man.

Student involved

He was in his third year of study in a pre-hospital emergency care technique. He had also registered as a cadet from high school, and was now a corporal in the Canadian Armed Forces infantry.

He helped fight forest fires in Quebec this summer as part of the army.
“I remember he wrote to me: “Mom, we saved Clova.” He was on the second line behind the firefighters and worked to ensure that the fires did not reignite,” recalls Samy’s mother, who preferred not to identify herself.
She was so proud of her son, who undertook studies in pre-hospital care “to save his brothers in arms and help people”, she explains in tears on the line.

“He always wanted to help the people around him, that’s really what made him proud. He was generous with his time, with his person,” confides Inas Belabar.
Unexplained
Montreal police are still trying to understand the circumstances of this murder which occurred in broad daylight. The victim’s relatives still cannot explain why the student was targeted.
“No one understand. He was such a good, honest, upright guy. He was focused on the military and his studies. He is very close to his family, he would never have done something that could have disappointed his parents,” underlines Neïla Lounnas-Acosta, who also studied with him at CEGEP.
Her friend who she considered a brother now inspires her to be a better person, she says: “He had an impact on me. I tell myself that I would like to be a little more like him: generous, calm and see the positive and the good in everything.”
“With each interaction, Samy left an indelible mark on those who were lucky enough to cross his path,” adds his friend Aliya Shaikh.
His classmates have also set up a fundraising campaign in his honor. The donations collected will be used to finance the purchase of an ambulance for a country in need.
“Even if he is no longer in this world, he will be able to realize his dream of helping people,” explains Inas Belabar.
