The Festifraîches are back on August 17 and 18 for the third year on several farms in Quebec, a highlight that highlights our local fall strawberry and raspberry harvests.
Ten producers from Gaspésie, Chaudière-Appalaches, Capitale-Nationale, Eastern Townships, Montérégie, Laval, Lanaudière, Outaouais and Saguenay are participating in the event, which offers activities for the whole family such as self-picking, tastings of gourmet products, musical entertainment and kiosks showcasing local businesses and artisans.
But it is also, among other things, a strawberry picker’s skills course at the Mont-Rouge vegetable garden, line dancing and western festivities at the Therrien vegetable garden and at the Forget farm, yoga in the raspberry fields at the St-Élie farm, an antiques exhibition at the Bourdages Tradition farm or shows by the clown Atchoum at the Domaine Hébert.
Strawberries from Quebec fields are available from early June to mid-October, while raspberries are available from July to September. Each producer grows several varieties of berries according to their soil, tastes and markets.
