The hearing into forward Evander Kane’s grievance over the termination of his contract by the San Jose Sharks will require at least an extra day.

According to the TSN network, a first session was held on Tuesday, but the hearing could not be completed. The date for this second day has not yet been revealed.
Last January, the Californian team submitted Kane’s name on waivers in order to terminate his contract and not pay him the remaining $ 23 million of the agreement initialed in 2018 by the veteran of 30 years. This was for seven years and had a total value of $49 million.
The Sharks had claimed in a statement that the skater had “violated the rules of his standard NHL player contract and violated American League COVID-19 protocols” to justify their decision.
According to sports website The Athletic, Kane’s deal was terminated because he traveled to Vancouver despite testing positive for COVID-19.
Kane was also suspended for 21 games by the Bettman circuit for violating COVID-19 protocol by providing a false vaccination card. This sanction was awarded to him last November.
At the end of the first month of 2022, Kane signed a one-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers. On Monday, interim head coach Jay Woodcroft said his skater will be away from the team entourage on personal leave and will return on Wednesday.
In 37 games with the Oilers so far, Kane has hit the target 16 times and provided 15 assists for 31 points.
