Monday August 15, the inhabitants of Belin-Béliet, in Gironde, return to their homes after being evacuated for almost a week. They notice the damage and resume their habits.
In Belin-Béliet (Gironde), a resident evacuated due to the fire returned to his home on Monday August 15. The trees surrounding his property are charred. “We had a really magnificent domain and here it is, everything is screwed up”, notes Olivier Subhi, a resident of Belin-Béliet. His house was saved by firefighters, the man is relieved to find it whole. The streets of the town are still calm Monday morning, not everyone has returned yet.
“What do you appreciate your apartment when you come back, and get back to your habits”, testifies a resident. After a week of evacuation, it is necessary to do some shopping again. “We obviously lost a little bit in terms of fridges and freezers since there were power cuts”, explains a woman. Everyone sees the damage with despair. “There is nothing left, there is no longer a tree”, says a man. A dozen inhabitants still do not have electricity, Monday August 15th.
