Spain faces fires, Friday August 5th. In Galicia, in the northwest of the country, firefighters are trying to contain forest fires, with nine homes still active. Fires caused by the drought and the heat wave currently hitting Spain, the European country most affected by forest fires. Since the beginning of the year, 230,000 hectares have burned.

The Czech Republic is also experiencing record temperatures and fires. It took firefighters four days to bring a huge forest fire under control in a national park near the German border. Thousands of hectares went up in smoke. At the origin of the disaster, an intense and unusual heat which has affected the country for a week.

In Iceland, the awakening of a volcano has become a tourist attraction, with its eruptions of magma. An activity closely followed by hundreds of curious people very impressed by this natural phenomenon. A phenomenon that confirms the resumption of volcanic activity in this wild and uninhabited region of Iceland.
