Anti-immigration protests in Portugal. Thousands of people marched through the streets of Lisbon during a demonstration organized by the far-right CHEGA party to protest against migratory pressure deemed uncontrolled. “If we let 15% more immigrants into Portugal, there won’t be enough housing for everyone“, says André Ventura, the leader of the far-right party. Last year, the number of foreigners increased by 33%. To calm the situation, the center-right government decided to toughen up its migration policy .
