Eugene Lewis bids farewell to Montreal

Receiver Eugene Lewis formalized his departure from the metropolis on Tuesday, at the opening of the free agent market, via his Twitter account.

The star player “didn’t know what to expect” when he arrived with the Montreal Alouettes in 2017.

“I just knew that I was going to give my all for this city and that I was going to have to work every day,” he continued.

In five seasons with the Sparrows, Lewis had 28 touchdowns and 4,347 yards in 68 games.

The 29-year-old American wrote that “the city and the fans loved me in a very special way” and that he will be “eternally grateful to the entire province of Quebec. »

He and his teammates would have “changed the culture of the organization for the better and nobody can take that away from us. »

According to the specialized site 3DownNation, Lewis would have agreed with the Elks of Edmonton. He would become the CFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback player under a two-year deal valued at $320,000 per season.
