After the attack on a prison van which caused the death of two agents in Eure, the Minister of Justice promised to strengthen the arming of extraction agents and the development of videoconference hearings.
Agents from the Pau remand center (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) brandished targets on Wednesday, May 15, following the assassination of their colleagues in Eure. They decided to blockade the prison. Faced with prison overcrowding, they want to be more numerous and better equipped. At Baumettes prison, in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), it was through a minute of silence that the prison teams paid tribute to the two officers killed on Tuesday. They often transfer detainees in fear.
On Wednesday, Eric Dupond-Moretti received the prison unions. The Minister of Justice promised rapid measures, such as strengthening the arming of extraction agents and the development of videoconference hearings. Pending a written agreement, many prisons remain blocked on Thursday.
