The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti was heard for about an hour on Tuesday March 29 in the morning by the magistrates of the Court of Justice of the Republic, in the case of suspicions of illegal taking of interests, learned franceinfo with one of his lawyers. The Keeper of the Seals made use of his right to silence and therefore did not speak, according to this same source.

Eric Dupond-Moretti is being prosecuted in this case because he is notably suspected of having taken advantage of his function as minister to settle accounts with three magistrates of the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF), who had peeled his “fadettes” within the framework of an investigation to look for Nicolas Sarkozy’s “mole” in the wiretapping affair, by ordering an administrative investigation against them in September 2020.

The investigation was opened after complaints from magistrates’ unions and the Anticor association. The Keeper of the Seals has been indicted since July 2021 in this case for “illegal taking of interests”.
