“It’s literally attempted murder, I could have stayed there!” The [premiers secours] told me that it only happened a few centimeters away, ”plagues Maxim Lemieux, still in shock a few hours after the events.

“It was like an explosion in the glass, it’s really traumatic. The paramedic made me a sign of the cross and told me that I was blessed, ”says the one who had had his new car for barely 24 hours.

“My cell phone was completely destroyed, but I had no injuries. The police told me that if I had had a passenger, he probably wouldn’t be here today,” added Mr. Lemieux.

Deliberate gesture

If it was initially believed that pieces of the viaduct of the avenue Royale were unhooked, the investigation of the Police force of the City of Quebec (SPVQ) finally showed that people deliberately threw these concrete blocks .

“Witnesses told us they saw suspects. And we discovered that the pieces came from a broken sidewalk on the viaduct, ”explains Marie-Pier Rivard, spokesperson for the SPVQ.

At least two moving vehicles were targeted by these criminals, their windshields bursting into pieces.

One of the drivers also had to be evaluated after the projectile fell on him while going through the window of his truck.

Several misdeeds

Thirty minutes after this incident, reports were made to denounce two young individuals who were strolling on private land in the same area, at the intersection of rue d’Ariel and rue des Virelais.

A little further south, in Armand and Saint-Exupéry streets, calls were also made to report that a dozen cars had their tires punctured using a blade.

Two young people arrested

If they were arrested for trespassing at night, the two teenagers aged 14 and 15 are suspected of having a link with all these incidents of vandalism that occurred in the neighborhood and on the viaduct of Avenue Royale during the night.

The investigation is continuing in this case to ensure that there is a link between all these stories, however, underlines the SPVQ.
