In the Loiret, in the North or in the East, several companies are forced to put their employees on partial unemployment because of the energy bill which is soaring.
In Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin (Loiret), 250 Duralex employees will be on short-time working in the coming months. From November to February 2023, production lines will be shut down. Blame it on the price of gas. The company’s bill was multiplied by 18. An untenable situation. Similar announcements have already been made by several energy-consuming companies. In the North, the 1,600 employees of the glassmaker Arc have been on partial unemployment since Thursday, September 1. At Ascometal, in the East, two production interruptions are planned for December.
“Employees are already experiencing enormous inflation added to partial unemployment paid at 70%. This will be unsustainable for employees”, believes Gazi Yildiz, CGT Ascometal secretary. Because since August 1, 2022, an employee on partial unemployment only receives 72% of his net salary. The unions appeal to the state. “We must start the support systems for workers again, because the employees are in no way responsible for the situation”, launches Laurent Berger, secretary general of the CFDT. For its part, employers also want a gesture so that companies are also covered at 100%.
