But this modern western with a touch of soap-opera has so far only received one nomination, in a minor technical category.
Voters may have been put off by the show’s overtly conservative overtones or its airing on the relatively modest Paramount Network, but its popularity has steadily grown, especially among progressive-leaning elites.
“We’ll see if popularity alone plays into the competition this year. If that is the case, Yellowstone will have its moment of glory. It’s watched everywhere, we’ll see if it’s also watched by the Academy Emmy Awards, ”says Pete Hammond.
A breakthrough for Hulu?
Platforms HBO and Netflix tend to dominate in Emmy nominations, but this year, the small Hulu, owned by the giant Disney, could shine.
Hulu, which only broadcasts in the United States, is behind original creations like The Scarlet Maidwinner in 2017, and continues to expand its production.
