Emmanuel Macron received the leaders of the opposition parties

Two days after the legislative slap, Tuesday, May 21, it is a parade of all the tenors of the opposition political parties that we could observe at the Elysée. Emmanuel Macron wants to show that he understood the message sent by voters. This is why he is trying to consult with his political adversaries. Officially, everyone promises to be constructive but sets their conditions. “The group of 89 deputies (..) is a group which is in the opposition but does not wish to be in the systematic obstruction”explains Marine Le Pen.

On the Les Républicains side, there is no question of talking about an alliance. “There is no question of betraying those who trusted us, and those who elected us did not elect us to enter into any pact or coalition whatsoever”, analyzes Christian Jacob, president of the party. In the National Assembly, a controversy swells: the Prime Minister lacks legitimacy. “Madam Prime Minister, you must come here and seek the vote of the deputies to have confidence”says Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
