A national defense council is currently meeting, Monday February 21, by Emmanuel Macron. He was summoned “in an emergency, without even waiting [la] Kremlin statement”explains the journalist Jean-Baptiste Marteau, in duplex from the Palais de l’Elysée (Paris). “We already point out that [la] probable recognition by Moscow of the independence of the Ukrainian separatist provinces would completely run counter to the Minsk agreements”, continues the journalist. Agreements on which all diplomatic attempts had hitherto been based.
The purpose of this advice is to “coordinate as well as possible the response of Westerners to this new provocation by Vladimir Putin”and avoid “any Russian military intervention in Ukraine”, explains Jean-Baptiste Marteau. Emmanuel Macron previously spoke with the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, as well as with his European counterparts.
