Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, displayed their unity during a summit devoted to Ukraine, Friday March 15. France and Germany are determined not to let Russia win.
Meeting in Berlin (Germany), Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, spoke about the situation in Ukraine on Friday March 15. They wanted to show their unity. “We will continue to support, for as long as necessary, Ukraine and its people, and we will continue, as since the first day, not to take any escalatory initiative”assured the French president at the end of the meeting.
Europe regains its unity
After a few days of tension following Emmanuel Macron’s comments on a possible sending of troops to Ukraine, Europe is regaining its unity. “Solidarity and common action are essential to defend peace and freedom in Europe. It is more true than ever: unity is strength”, summarized the German Chancellor for his part. Now the goal is to increase production, in Europe and Ukraine, and supply more weapons. Furthermore, a new capability coalition for long-range artillery systems was announced.
