Russian oil embargo: “No need to rush to the stations”

The Minister for Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili calls on the French not to “rush to gas stations”while a draft embargo on Russian oil must be validated by the Member States of the European Union by May 9 and “gradually” in place by the end of the year. She also said she was “confident” about the adoption of this embargo “by the end of the week”.

“Today we have no supply problems. We have stocks, there is what it takes. We are quiet for many months”, wanted to reassure the minister.

Former member of EELV, Barbara Pompili assures that she would not have voted for this agreement. “It makes no sense”, she believes. “It is not a vote of the French government”insisted Thursday, May 5 on franceinfo the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili, after the adoption on Tuesday by the European Parliament of an amendment which pushes back the ban on trawlingwhich scrapes and destroys the bottom of the seas, in all the so-called marine areas “protected” in Europe and only prohibits it in 1% of its waters. “If I had been a member of the European Parliament, I would have voted against”she says.

The amendment was however tabled by the Renew group, of which LREM is a member, in the European Parliament. When we “do nothing to obtain compromises, we obtain nothing”, lambasted the minister.
