Russian oil embargo: “No need to rush to the stations”
The Minister for Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili calls on the French not to “rush to gas stations”while a draft embargo on Russian oil must be validated by the Member States of the European Union by May 9 and “gradually” in place by the end of the year. She also said she was “confident” about the adoption of this embargo “by the end of the week”.
“Today we have no supply problems. We have stocks, there is what it takes. We are quiet for many months”, wanted to reassure the minister.
Union on the left: the Greens “denied themselves”
Former member of EELV, Barbara Pompili assures that she would not have voted for this agreement. “It makes no sense”, she believes. The European Union Ecology-The Greens with La France insoumise for the legislative elections “no sense”according to her. “I understand that we have to find agreements to have representatives in Parliament, but we can’t go that far in denying who we are. Europe is the backbone of EELV. They have broken their spine. How do you walk with a broken spine?”
She was particularly indignant at the principle of “disobedience” to certain European treaties desired by the New People’s Ecological and Social Union. “Europe is not everyone who finds his little interests and does not take solidarity into account, it is very dangerous.”

“It is not a vote of the French government”insisted Thursday, May 5 on franceinfo the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili, after the adoption on Tuesday by the European Parliament of an amendment which pushes back the ban on trawlingwhich scrapes and destroys the bottom of the seas, in all the so-called marine areas “protected” in Europe and only prohibits it in 1% of its waters. “If I had been a member of the European Parliament, I would have voted against”she says.
The amendment was however tabled by the Renew group, of which LREM is a member, in the European Parliament. When we “do nothing to obtain compromises, we obtain nothing”, lambasted the minister.
