An unexpected meeting between two regulars at provocation. The aerospace company SpaceX, owned by billionaire supporter of the American far right Elon Musk, has been under legal attack since Thursday, September 19 by the creators of the board game “Cards Against Humanity”. The link between these two very different worlds? The creators of the game accuse SpaceX of illegally exploiting land belonging to them, on the border between Texas and Mexico.

“Elon Musk’s SpaceX was building a space thing nearby and they figured they could dump their shit on our beautiful land without asking”explain the game’s creators, on a website created to accompany their complaint. “After we caught them, SpaceX gave us a 12-hour ultimatum to accept a paltry offer of less than half the value of our land.”they add. The creators declined the offer and took the Texas court to court to claim $15 million from the billionaire’s company, which allegedly stored “gravel, tractors and space junk” on this plot.

The land in question had been purchased by “Cards Against Humanity” in 2017 with donations from 150,000 people, to prevent the construction of the anti-migrant wall promised by Donald Trump. The aim was to “protecting a piece of pristine land on the US-Mexico border from racist billionaire Donald Trump’s very stupid wall. Unfortunately, an even richer and racist billionaire – Elon Musk – snuck up behind our backs and completely fucked up that land”specify the owners of the land.

The game’s creators say that if they win, backers of the 2017 crowdfunding campaign will receive up to $100 each. Contacted by AFP, SpaceX did not immediately respond. The billionaire boss of the X network, known for his tendency to share his thoughts (and fake news) on social networks, has not officially responded at the time of writing this article.
