Elie Baup welcomes “very good news” after staying in Ligue 2

After Bixente Lizarazu, it is another legend of the Girondins de Bordeaux, Elie Baup, who says his relief this Wednesday. The Executive Committee of the French Football Federation has finally authorized the Marine et Blanc to play in Ligue 2 this season. The demotion to National 1 synonymous with filing for bankruptcy is avoided.

“This is very good news because we have come close to general bankruptcy and almost the disappearance of this huge club”, reacts Elie Baup, the former coach of the Girondins (1997-2003) with whom he was crowned champion of France in 1999.

“There was impatience and the desire to hear this positive news”

The emblematic ex-coach of Bordeaux says he breathed a big sigh of relief. “With the latest news, the decision of the commercial court and the authorities which had issued a favorable opinion (CNOSF), we hoped for this good news but we are never sure of anything.

“You have to hope for a rapid recovery”

Elie Baup believes that the sacred union around the Girondins can “psychologically boost and give a positive impetusto the new team.

“We must put back in place what has always been the strength of the Girondins, the work with young people, to hope to perpetuate this club and no longer live with what happened.”
