elected officials leave Metz city council after sexist attacks by first deputy mayor

“Madame Picard, aren’t you going to pee in your panties in front of everyone?” Surrealist exchange, at the municipal council of Metz (Moselle), Thursday, September 29. Khalife Khalife, the first deputy to the mayor LR, multiplied the sexist arrests of two elected opposition women. Outraged at her conduct, one of them ended up, with other elected opposition members, by leaving the room in which the meeting was held to protest against the behavior of her colleague, who was moderating the meeting in place of the mayor, François Grosdidier, victim of a stroke the day before.

The exchange took place during a discussion on the “integrated security contract”which provides in particular for the increase in the police force of Metz, reports Lorraine News. “Madame Picard, aren’t you going to pee in your panties in front of everyone?”launches the first deputy, to the laughter of part of the city council. “There is no need to talk about my body and my urology in the city council”replies Charlotte Picard, elected opposition socialist, denouncing a “completely disrespectful expression”. The latter then asks Khalifé Khalifé to apologize for his exit: “Excuse me, but she fell so well.”

“Reminding a municipal councilor about the fact that she would ‘wee in her panties’ is demeaning and infantilizing (…). You must apologize. (…) I am really terribly shocked”intervenes so the elected ecologist Marina Veronneau. “Listen, it can be cured!”replies the elected official, telling the members of the municipal council who disapprove of his new answer to “to hush up”. “We get up and we break”then run Marina Verronneau, who leaves the room with several elected opposition members. “It’s perfect, we will finish earlier”answers Khalife Khalife. “Once he left, we had to extort excuses from him to return to the board”specifies the latter on Twitter.
