Here Comes the Sun, exploitation linked to mass tourism put forward
One inevitably feels unease when visiting the exhibition Here Comes the Sun, presented until March 18 at the SBC gallery of contemporary art, because Irene de Andrés, Katherine Kennedy, Joiri Minaya and Ada M. Patterson highlight the exploitation linked to mass tourism in the Caribbean. Through photos and videos, the artists deconstruct the gaze imbued with exoticism that Westerners in general pose on these islands and recall the violent colonial past of this vast region that they associate today with all-inclusive tourism which enslaves the local populations. We cannot remain indifferent to such a demonstration. Don’t forget your phone: one of the works is strewn with Q&A codes that you can “decode” to better understand the social dimension of the exhibition.

Virginie Fortin on tour
Comedian Virginie Fortin continues her Quebec tour, stopping on 1er March in Terrebonne and March 3 in Victoriaville. According to journalist Marissa Groguhé, the comedian is up to expectations. “We laughed from the start, we laughed towards the end. His jokes are well put together and it is necessary when one does not have recourse to the more “easier” process of a punch every two sentences. Virginie Fortin skillfully installs the moments of laughter that she wants to provoke, ”she wrote in her review published in March 2022.
