A 27-year-old man was sentenced, Monday, February 5, by the court of Valence (Drôme) to 14 months in prison, six of which were suspended for having threatened to kill the mayor of Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) after the tragedy of Crépol, we learned from his lawyer. Arrested in the Paris region, the man was accused of having notably, via private Instagram messaging, threatened to “decapitate” Marie-Hélène Thoraval (LR) and “juggle with [son] skull”.
The prosecution had requested 18 months in prison, four of which were suspended on probation. The accused’s lawyer, Ivan Flaud, sees it as a decision “moderate, which takes into account the facts but also the personality” of his client, whom he describes as “fragile”. “He’s not a factious person.”he stressed.
The accused, in pre-trial detention since the end of December, denied the charges against him. He has already been sentenced to prison on several occasions for similar offenses (threats, contempt).
