eight dead in mass shooting in Texas

The scene is chilling. On images, the killer gets out of the car and opens fire on passers-by. This scene takes place on Saturday, May 6, in a shopping center in Allen, Texas (United States). The shooting left eight people dead and several injured, including children. The crowd is evacuated, then filtered by the police who want to make sure that another shooter is not there. “We heard gunshots, saw lights and we took refuge in the store, closing the door”says a woman.

The shooter was shot by a police officer. “At 3:36 p.m., our officer was present for another call. He heard the shots, went to the location of the shots, faced the suspect and incapacitated him”, said Brian Harvey, Allen’s police chief. According to the first elements of the investigation, the man would have acted alone. His identity has not been released by the authorities. Since the beginning of the year, 195 mass killings have been recorded in the United States.
