Violence against LGBT+ people is on the rise. How to fight against it? Explanations on the set of 11/13 info, Wednesday May 15, with Julia Torlet, president and spokesperson for SOS homophobia, and Thomas Vampouille, editorial director of Têtu.

In line with the report from the European Union’s fundamental rights agency, that of SOS homophobia, which is due to be published on Thursday May 16, warns of the increase in violence against LGBT+ people. Among them, “physical violence, ambushes against gay men or supposed gay men. There has also been in recent months (…) the presence of transphobia and transphobic acts that are increasingly frequent and increasingly more violent”describes Julia Torlet, president and spokesperson for SOS homophobia, Wednesday in 11/13 info.

Also present on the set of 11/13 info, Thomas Vampouille, editorial director of Stubborn, “has observed over the past 10 years a homogenization of homophobia throughout the world”, and increasing school bullying. For Julia Torlet, “education is the crux of the matter. Most of the time, discrimination is based on a form of incomprehension and rejection”. The president of SOS homophobia denounces “a major movement that aims to discredit or even prevent education on issues of romantic, sexual orientation and gender identity”. Thomas Vampouille agrees: “The reactionary lobby is increasingly vocal and is spreading false information to the population. (…) We have been paralyzed against the conservatives for years.”
