In the biggest prison ofEEcuador, a clash of incredible violence occurred Saturday, November 13 between rival gangs of drug traffickers. 68 prisoners died. It took the intervention of a thousand police officers to restore calm.
Women are in tears in front of the penitentiary center of Guayaquil (EEcuador) Sunday 14 November. If the calm returned in the morning, the day before, 68 men died. For at least 24 hours, prisoners from rival gangs clashed fiercely. Those related groups to the traffic of drugs do reign terror in the prison. A bloodbath denounced by families, who demand justice.
The 900 police officers deployed eventually took matters into their own hands, but the governor of the province of Guayas admits the situation is dire, with inmates armed with guns inside the prison. In September, another massacre took place under the same circumstances. In this region ofEEcuador, drug trafficking crime is out of control.
