Overall, the Trois-Rivières Lions did not play a bad game with a good 40 minutes out of 60. However, in the other 20 minutes, the Newfoundland Growlers showed opportunism, which allowed them to win by the count of 5 to 2. They thus take the lead 3-1 in this series and they push the Lions to the brink of elimination.

During this game, it was the Growlers who were able to open the scoring in the sixth minute of play. Taking advantage of a defensive turnaround, Ryan Chyzowski was able to beat Philippe Desrosiers with a simply perfect shot. The visitors showed some indiscipline, however, which gave the Lions valuable minutes on the massive attack. Despite countless attempts, the felines came up against a goalkeeper Keith Petruzzelli who was uninterested in giving in despite 18 shots aimed at him.
