A few thousand people demonstrated for climate justice on Saturday in Montreal, during the traditional Earth Day march.
“Here, now, for our children!” » and « Gas, oil, we are fed up! they chanted to the sound of the drums.
The procession set off in the early afternoon in front of the George-Étienne Cartier monument, located on the side of Mount Royal.
Under a cloudy sky, demonstrators of all ages demanded the exit from fossil fuels to slow global warming.
“It’s very heavy to say that we have no future. I am 18 years old and I have the impression that I have no future, ”dropped Marielle Lauzon-Poirier, who says she suffers from eco-anxiety.
Demonstrations were also planned in Quebec, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Chicoutimi, Joliette, Rouyn-Noranda and Baie-Comeau.
