Duceppe: five Quebec creations this season

To mark its 50th anniversary, Duceppe will present five original local creations this season.

The theater company unveiled its complete seasonal program on Thursday, in which Nathalie Doummar’s “Mama”, “Showtime — A big play” by the Le Projet Bocal collective and Naomi Fontaine’s “Manikanetish” are added to the theatrical adaptation of the film “Gaz Bar Blues” by Louis Bélanger and Robert Lepage’s play “The Riopelle Project [titre de travail]which had already been announced.

This season will also mark the great return of the play “Le loup” by Nathalie Doummar, in an enhanced version and featuring Maude Guérin. It is also the return of the pieces in formula 5 to 7 with the original creation “Le cas Nicolas Rioux” by Erika Mathieu.

The theater will host for a few performances the show-event “Un. Of them. Three.” by Mani Soleymanlou.

Fanny Britt will begin a writing residency that will allow her to focus, for two years, on the creation of a new large-scale piece. “Mama” and “Showtime – A big play” are notably from it.

The writer, playwright, screenwriter and translator has authored some fifteen plays, the translation of numerous works from the contemporary repertoire, several essays and children’s books, as well as two novels, the most recent of which, “Faire les sucres”, has won the Governor General’s Literary Award.
