“I don’t know why he wants to leave”reacted Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “There are a lot of French people who love him. He is part of the heritage. He likes it or he doesn’t like it, but that’s how it is. And then himself, he loves his country. I’ll remind you anyway : ‘Don’t ever call me France again’. I’m going to tell him: don’t do that!”

Jean-Luc Mélenchon spoke directly to the popular singer:
“Mr. Sardou, don’t leave, stay, we love you too much and you love your country too much. Remember Danton’s phrase: you don’t take your homeland with the soles of your shoes!”
