The US presidential election is in 100 days and now the question is: how to ensure the safety of the candidates? Two weeks after escaping an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has announced his intention to resume outdoor rallies, contrary to the advice of the Secret Service, the service responsible for his security.

“I will continue to hold outdoor gatherings and the Secret Service has agreed to significantly increase its operations,” wrote Donald Trump on his Truth Social network on Saturday, July 27. The former president and Republican candidate did not provide any additional details. The same silence from the Secret Service, responsible for protecting presidents, vice-presidents and even presidential candidates.

This federal agency seriously fears the risk of copycats and a new shooter. It therefore advises Donald Trump to organize his rallies indoors to filter the entrances and check for the absence of firearms. This is what Donald Trump has been doing since July 13, again last Saturday in Minnesota, but also Wednesday, July 31 in Pennsylvania for his next rally.

But the ex-president is decidedly stubborn. Giving in to this pressure does not help his communication and he concludes on Truth Social: “No one may be allowed to stop or obstruct freedom of expression or assembly.”
