Dogs allowed in the Montreal metro

The new pilot project of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) comes into effect today. From 10 a.m., dogs will be accepted in the metro, under certain important conditions to be respected.

Wearing a muzzle will be mandatory for all dogs, throughout the journey, in addition to a leash. Public transport users will not be able to carry more than one dog with them.

Note that dogs will be allowed in the metro from Monday to Sunday, including public holidays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., as well as after 7 p.m. Owners must use the entrances and exits belonging to the STM. Be aware that it is likely that some accesses, which do not belong to the STM, do not accept dogs.

Currently, the Longueuil-Université de Sherbrooke station is not part of the pilot project.

In an interview this morning at LCN, the chairman of the STM’s board of directors, Éric Alan Caldwell, confirmed that the pilot project will be spread over a period of nine months, in order to get feedback from customers, who were numerous to wish the elaboration of this project.
