Again rejected. Two motions of censure on the draft Social Security budget were rejected Monday in the Assembly, after the activation of 49.3 by the government. And after this new rejection, the opposition begins to question the effectiveness of this strategy, in any case, the left opposition.

What is the point of drawing a motion of censure every 49.3 when we know in advance that it will not be adopted, since the LR deputies will not vote for it? This question, the First Secretary of the PS, Olivier Faure, l posed clearly in the hemicycle. “To suggest every week that the government falls, without ever being really threatened, we take the risk of weakening the strength of the message”, added Olivier Faure, who fears that this “continuous hubbub only benefits anti-parliamentarianism”, i.e. on the far right. The warning was not much appreciated on the rebellious benches.
Because France Insoumise remains, without question, the driving force of Nupes, but it runs the risk of isolating itself. None of its partners, neither the socialists, nor the ecologists, nor the communists, co-signed the text of the motion of censure. And he missed Monday 22 votes of deputies on the left at the time of the vote. Since the legislative elections, the Insoumis have been driving a systematic, noisy and unqualified opposition strategy in the Assembly. What worries some left-wing deputies is that it seems to benefit the National Rally. Even the rebellious member of the Somme, François Ruffin, sounded the alarm. He recently judged that “it’s no use yelling” because “it serves the lepenists” and he even told his comrades in the LFI group.
Basically, the left is looking for the right distance to oppose the executive. Anti-macronism remains a powerful cement to weld the Nupes, but insufficient to build a credible government project. However, weakened by his lack of an absolute majority, we see that the head of state is courting more and more clearly the LR deputies. Emmanuel Macron is now pleading for an alliance with the right. For several left-wing leaders, it is therefore time to free themselves a little from the tutelage of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, to change their tone, to try to build a real alternative to Macronism. Otherwise there is a great risk that Marine Le Pen will end up embodying it.
