Electric bikes are enjoying enormous success thanks to their ecological virtues. However, the first generation of these two wheels are difficult to repair and recycling used batteries is complex.
Cyclists who were the first to switch to electric bikes around ten years ago are seeing their batteries showing signs of weakness. The lifespan of a conventional battery rarely exceeds ten years. But changing the battery is a headache because few repairers can do it and sometimes, the model is no longer marketed. Reconditioning your battery, another solution, is also very expensive.
For others, the batteries no longer last long enough to complete their journeys. A cyclist, seduced by the ecological promise of her electric bike, claims that it is planned obsolescence. In specialized stores, all cyclists come for the same problem: impossible to find a compatible battery.
