Together, the presidential majority obtained only 20.04% of the votes on Sunday, June 30. Guest on 11/13 info, Nicolas Prisset, editorialist at “La Tribune Dimanche”, looks back on the failure of Macron’s party during the first round.
The results of the first round of the legislative elections on Sunday June 30 outline an observation. From now on, the presidential majority, already relative to the National Assembly, is abolished. With 20% of the votes, the Ensemble deputies are struggling and could obtain less than 100 seats in the hemicycle. Nicolas Prisset, editorialist at La Tribune Sundayevokes a “missed bet” for Emmanuel Macron who decided on June 9 to dissolve the Assembly.
“Emmanuel Macron thought that the increase in participation (…) could benefit his camp”he estimates. Indeed, a massive participation of 66.7% was observed in the ballot boxes. “But it did not change the order of arrival, it did not change the weakness in which the camp of the President of the Republic is”observes the specialist. “This bet is a failure”concludes Nicolas Prisset. Consequently, Macronie will have to form coalitions in the future, according to him.
