The Minister of Public Security Geneviève Guilbault has raised doubts about the place in the Liberal alignment of a candidate who, according to her, is a “follower of insults and disgraceful remarks”, in particular against the head caquiste François Legault.
Ms. Guilbault made the statement on social media Thursday, just hours after the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) announced that Claude Vadeboncoeur was closing his Twitter account.

The duty reported Thursday morning that Mr. Vadeboncoeur closed his Twitter account after retransmitting messages calling Mr. Legault in particular “undemocratic rot”.
The PLQ indicated that the candidate in Brome-Missisquoi had made the decision to leave Twitter. “These are not the messages that we want to convey or share,” explained spokesperson Jérémy Ghio.
According to Ghio, the candidate, who has posted nearly 4,000 messages of all kinds since his account was activated in June, will devote himself to campaigning outside the virtual sphere.
“Mr. Vadeboncoeur is a man of the field, he is not used to new technology, so he decided to close his Twitter account and focus on door-to-door, meeting his constituents for the rest of the campaign,” he said.

Claude Vadeboncoeur had reposted on his Twitter account, in mid-July, a comment describing Mr. Legault as “anti-democratic rot”.
In the week before the election, he had also retransmitted a message indicating that Mr. Legault could be “despised” and that his arrogance was “repugnant”.
