The investigating judges of the public health center of the Paris court ordered a dismissal on Thursday February 24 in the emblematic case of the asbestos scandal at the Jussieu university campus, in Paris, 26 years after the filing of the first complaint, learned franceinfo this Monday from the collective and the lawyer for the Association of Asbestos Victims Antoine Vey.
The Jussieu Anti-Asbestos Committee announces in a press release on Monday February 28 that it is appealing this dismissal before the investigating chamber because it finds it “scientifically and legally erroneous”. He thinks that the investigating chamber will accede to his request and will cancel this dismissal for this reason.
The Committee accuses the investigating judges, who took over the case in 2013, of having “strategy of deliberately abandoning the investigation and involving the civil parties in procedural battles until the extinction of the public action by the death of the persons implicated”a “most of them” having already died since the first complaint.
The committee filed, with the National Association of Asbestos Victims, a direct citation for “manslaughter and manslaughter”, “non-assistance to person in danger”, “complicity in administering a harmful substance”, “aggravated complicity in deception” and “conspiracy” at the Paris court last November, targeting 14 people – senior civil servants and members of the Asbestos Standing Committee – whose identity has not yet been revealed.
