The employees of the Carrefour Market store in Pêchereau in Indre are angry. For four years now, they have been subjected to threats, insults and sometimes violence from a few customers. They have decided to exercise their right of withdrawal. About twenty employees were on strike since this Thursday, May 12 to denounce the situation.
“I received a punch”
Christelle has been a cashier in the brand for 21 years. She likes her job but for a few years it has become unbearable. She receives insults dailysometimes even blows from some customers. “I was punched in the shoulder while I was just doing my job.she laments. The customer lashed out at me for picking up stolen tags in front of her. Another time, I received objects squarely in the face”.
The employees are overwhelmed by the situation. Sylvie worries about going to work. “We are afraid, we come to work with a lump in our stomachs, it is no longer livable”she assures.
Security guards have been hired but they too were attacked. “They left one after the other seeing the extent of the situation, the management is struggling to recruit security guards”says Jean-Michel.
Soon rounds of gendarmes
Employees are now demanding that management take action: “we want to deny access to the store to these customers, we no longer want to see them for our health and well-being”, they insist. To support them, a petition is circulating among customers. It already has more than 500 signatures. It will then be sent to the management of Carrefour France.

This Friday afternoon, a round table was organized at the town hall of Pêchereau, in the presence of the mayor, the gendarmes and the HRD of the store. At the end of this round table, management has promised to hire two security guards. The gendarmes also ensure that they will make more rounds. After a vote, the employees agreed to return to work from Saturday.
