It is an exclusivity of France Bleu Nord. While the French road cycling championships have just been held in Cholet in Maine-et-Loire, your radio is able to reveal the detailed route of the 2023 edition which will take place from June 22 to 25. 2023 in Hazebrouck and Cassel in the North.
The start of the individual time trials and road races on Saturday and Sunday will be on the Grande Place de Hazebrouck, before reaching Mont Cassel, which will be used by the peloton for the next Tour de France, at the occasion of the 4th stage between Dunkirk and Calais on July 5.
Individual time trials
Men and women each have their ordeal. But the circuit and the distance are the same. Professional cyclists will have to cover 31 kilometers between Hazebrouck and Cassel.
It is the women who will open the ball. The first will start at 1 p.m. There will then be a start every minute for the next 42 participants, then every 1 minute 30 minutes for the last 27. The arrival of the last competitor is scheduled around 3 p.m.
The first runner will start at 2 p.m. The next 40 will start with one minute intervals. The gap will be 1 minute 30 for the last 40 competitors.
Online races
The runners and runners also each have their online race. The start will be given from Place du General de Gaulle in Hazebrouck. The finish will be contested on the Grand Place in Cassel, opposite the Flanders Museum. The race takes place on Saturday June 24 for women (start at 1:50 p.m.) and Sunday June 25 for men (start at 10:40 a.m.)
The circuit is identical but the distance is not the same: 100.4 km for women, 238.4 km for men. Before crossing the finish, runners and runners must complete a 13.8 km loop in Cassel several times. It will be 6 laps for women and 16 laps for men.
This is the seventh time that the French Road Cycling Championships will take place in Hauts-de-France, after the coronations of Raymond Delisle in Soissons (1969), Régis Clère in Bailleul (1982), Pierrick Fédrigo (2005 ) and Sylvain Chavanel (2011) in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Nacer Bouhanni in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (2012) and Arnaud Démare in Saint-Omer (2017).
During these four days, many activities will be offered by the municipalities of Hazebrouck and Cassel but also by the Department of the North with a car podium in Cassel.
