The France Télévisions teams are mobilizing to decipher the links between the weather and climate change.

The antennas of France 2 and France 3 launched Monday, March 13 a brand new “Journal of weather and climate”. The evening weather reports of the two channels have been lengthened to make a link between the weather and climate change, in order to show how our daily weather is part of the disruption movements observed for several decades.

Heat waves, droughts, fires, floods… Extreme weather phenomena are on the increase and France Télévisions has decided to launch this new event, “your weather put in the context of a warming climate due to greenhouse gas emissions”explained Julia Martin on France 3. The objective of this “Journal of weather and climate” is to “decipher these phenomena” and above all answer questions from viewers “to know how to adapt to this changing climate”.

Monday evening, climatologist Françoise Vimeux answered the question of Mathieu, a resident of Meurthe-et-Moselle, who wonders “how global warming affects the amount of water that falls”. “Climate change is modifying large-scale atmospheric circulation. We will have a new distribution of rainfall. We will modify the extremes of rainfall, (…) because our atmosphere can contain more water vapor when it is warmer “replied the scientist.

These weather reports can be found every day at 8:40 p.m. on France 2 and at 9 p.m. on France 3.
