Discover How These Pokémon Games Allow You to Catch Two Rare Shiny Creatures!

On October 16, 2024, the shiny version of Meloetta debuted in Pokémon HOME as a reward for trainers who completed their Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Following that, shiny Amovénus and Manaphy became available. While shiny hunting for some Pokémon is restricted, these two can be obtained by completing specific Pokédex tasks. Players must finish the Pokédex for Shining Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus to claim these shinies.

Shiny Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon HOME

On October 16, 2024, the enchanting Pokémon Meloetta made waves with its shiny debut, courtesy of an update to the Pokémon HOME application. This update was a special reward for devoted trainers who successfully completed their Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Just a few months later, two more iconic Pokémon joined the shiny ranks.

Welcoming Shiny Amovénus and Manaphy

In today’s Pokémon world, it’s increasingly common to encounter legendary or special Pokémon that are shiny locked, meaning players can’t hunt for their shiny forms. This is true for Amovénus in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In contrast, some Pokémon like Manaphy can be obtained at a fixed shiny rate (1/8192), but players also need to have the egg from a Pokémon Ranger game in their Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum save, making it a lengthy and challenging endeavor that many shiny hunters relish.

These selections were intentional, as now anyone with a Pokémon HOME account can acquire these two shiny Pokémon. However, for those aiming to complete a shiny living dex—where every entry is filled with shinies linked to your Trainer ID—keep in mind that these two won’t count towards this goal, similar to Meloetta, as they will carry the HOME OT.

How to Acquire Shiny Amovénus and Manaphy in Pokémon HOME

If you’re eager to add these shiny gems to your Pokémon HOME account, you’ll first need to finish the Pokédex for Shining Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, transferring them entirely into the application.

  • To get Shiny Amovénus, complete the Pokédex for Pokémon Legends: Arceus exclusively using Pokémon from that game.
  • To obtain Shiny Manaphy, finish the Pokédex for Shining Diamond/Shining Pearl solely with Pokémon from these titles.

You can monitor your Pokédex progress in the Pokémon HOME mobile app by tapping the menu button located at the bottom center and selecting the Pokédex option. Then, click on the Games tab to view your progress. Keep in mind that this list only considers Pokémon captured in Switch and mobile titles, so your national Pokédex may be filled with Pokémon from older games.

If a crown icon appears next to the relevant Pokédex entry, congratulations—you’ve completed it! You can now claim your reward directly from the ‘Mystery Gift’ menu. If you don’t see your shiny Pokémon in your rewards list, try exiting and restarting Pokémon HOME.

With the recent announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, speculation is rife about its impact on the Pokémon franchise. Will this new console provide the tools necessary to deliver a game that aligns with fan expectations? Only time will tell!
