Disappointed by the defeat of the Blues at Euro 2024, the supporters tackle Didier Deschamps

Defeated by Spain in the semi-final, the Blues never really convinced the supporters during this entire tournament. Today, the fate of the coach is in suspense.

The Euro is over for the Blues! France was eliminated in the semi-finals on Tuesday, July 9, in Munich by Spain 2 goals to 1. The first goal scored by Randal Kolo Muani at the start of the match was not enough. The Spanish response was scathing with two goals in four minutes from Lamine Yamal, then Dani Olmo. The defeat is logical and the elimination ultimately does not surprise many people.

Criticized for the game it played in Germany – especially its offensive silence – the French team and its performance will not leave a great memory for the supporters. Despite the goal set by the federation of the last four reached by Didier Deschamps, many are calling for the departure of the coach in place since 2012.

The fans were nevertheless thrilled in the stands or in front of the screens of this bar in Montmartre, Paris. We’re disappointed, especially since it’s probably our best match of the Euro…”he points out.

In the stands in Munich, Mbappé, Griezmann, the “ghosts” The Blues are being singled out by supporters, but not only them: “Deschamp out!” can be heard. The coach of the Blues has achieved his objective but for many it is not enough.

“We are still a favourite team, so the last four is almost the minimum. We will have to turn a page: Didier, thank you for the work!”

For 12 years, the Blues have often finished placed, but rarely winners. An almost systematic presence in the last four world and European matches tarnished by a defensive and boring style of play which, in Germany, for many supporters, has reached its limits. “It was a bit of a fake the whole competition. We got to the semi-finals, but we didn’t deserve it at all. We finally scored a goal in the game. The scam couldn’t last any longer,” says a French supporter.

Didier Deschamps, facing the press, does not want to hear about it: “I respect you, try to respect a little the people who have responsibilities too“, he sweeps. Under contract until 2026, the retention of the coach of the Blues is, for the moment, not a matter of debate within the Federation.
