The Head of State could on this occasion clarify his vision of possible developments, particularly on the referendum, the Elysée informed journalists on Tuesday. The head of state received party leaders at the end of August, promising to use this unique format of transpartisan discussions to “build the most ambitious and clear proposal possible in the common interest”. Several political forces explained on this occasion that they wanted to broaden the scope of the referendum, limited by article 11 of the Constitution, to social issues such as immigration.
