DIRECT. Follow the commemorations of November 11, for the 105th anniversary of the 1918 armistice

The November 11 ceremonies celebrate the armistice of the First World War. This day is also an opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the two world wars and, since a law of February 2012, of all those who died for France. This day therefore pays tribute, in general, to the combatants and civilian victims of yesterday and today. Follow our live stream.

An official ceremony chaired by Emmanuel Macron. The President of the Republic is expected around 10:40 a.m. on the Champs-Elysées, before the start of the official ceremony on Place Charles-de-Gaulle and under the Arc de Triomphe. He will speak for a few minutes, and pay tribute to the three French soldiers who died in Iraq in August.

A wreath in tribute to Alfred Dreyfus. In the afternoon, the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu will lay a wreath in tribute to Captain Alfred Dreyfus at the Military School in Paris, franceinfo learned from the minister’s office. This gesture comes on the eve of a march against anti-Semitism in Paris at the call of the presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate.

A patriotic vigil. For the first time, a vigil “patriotic and popular” will be organized, with the projection of a “sound and light” on the Arc de Triomphe, in the presence of the flag bearers. This event will celebrate the centenary of the Flame of Remembrance, at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This was lit for the first time on November 11, 1923, at 6:30 p.m., by André Maginot, Minister of War and Pensions.
