A construction worker whose wife was six months pregnant tragically lost her life in a Kahnawake quarry on her 39th birthday.e birthday last week.

“Everything is hard”, launches Vanessa Boyer from the start, her throat tied with emotion.
Last Wednesday, her boyfriend Maxime Therrien died while driving a truck at Carrière JFK, located in the Aboriginal community of Kahnawake on the South Shore of Montreal.
“He left that morning as usual saying to me: ‘bye I love you, take care of yourself’. He wrote me a message at 8:40 a.m. and it happened a few minutes later, ”says Ms. Boyer.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.47am, the Peacekeepers confirmed in a statement released later in the day.
“An articulated dump truck left an inclined path and fell into the quarry,” added the local police department.
Incomprehension
Three days after the accident, Mr.me Boyer, who is six months pregnant, still does not know more about what could have led to the fatal fall of the father of her future child.
“I am told that the investigation is still ongoing. We don’t know yet how it happened. It would help everyone’s mourning to know what happened, we can’t wait, ”says the resident of Saint-Constant.

An investigation by the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) has been opened into this accident.
However, several months may pass before we know the conclusions, said the organization’s spokesperson Nicolas Bégin.
A worker in the wastewater sector, Mr. Therrien was employed for the winter season by this supplier of crushed stone, concrete and asphalt.
Help for the mother-to-be
Saddened by this situation, friends decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help Mr.me Boyer, who will give birth to a baby girl next May.
“We know that the arrival of a new baby is very difficult without his daddy. […]that’s why we decided to help Vanessa, “they said.
According to numerous testimonies in social networks, Mr. Therrien, father of two children aged 9 and 12, was described as a clown with a big heart.
“He left a smile on people’s faces, he was such a generous person. He did everything for the people he loved, his family and his friends,” recalls M.me Boyer.
