In a column published by Le Parisien and Franceinfo, this Tuesday, April 12, 2022, around fifty French athletes from all disciplines have decided to unite against the candidate of the National Rally and thus call to vote for Emmanuel Macron.

These athletes who are swimmers, basketball players, footballers or rugby players indeed keep in mind that the Olympic Games are approaching and far from them the desire to have “a far-right presidency” during this long-awaited event. Eager not to be considered as “givers of lessons”, they nevertheless that “voting for a party that would endanger Republican values ​​would be the worst remedy”. Among the names of the signatories of the platform we find those of Blaise Matuidi, Tony Yoka, Sarah Ourahmoune, Amandine Henry, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, or even Marie Bochet, Tony Parker, Dimitri Payet and Yannick Noah.

Yannick Noah regains position
Frank and honest, Yannick Noah had already expressed his political ideas in the past. In 2014, for example, in his album “Ordinary Combat”, he chanted his hatred of the National Front (now called National Rally). In 2019, the former tennis champion explained that this position had not pleased his audience but that he felt he had the right: “When you’re an artist or sportsman, you’re not a citizen and you don’t have the right to say what you think. I think I have as much right as a railway worker or a doctor. Precisely because I am a normal citizen.”
