Designer | The three branches of the Hibou house

A few months ago, the firm Hibou Design & Co. established its quarters at the corner of rue Chabanel and boulevard Saint-Laurent. Far from being limited to offices, the co-founders of the company have chosen to add a shop and, why not, a café.

The idea for the boutique-café came at a time when the firm was looking for larger premises for its activities. The two partners, Eugenia Triandos and Korina Khamis, fell in love with this large industrial-style space and wanted to make the most of it.

We have three businesses in the same location, run by my partner and myself.

In addition to the interior design offices, a boutique space has been set up at the front, where one can shop for pieces handpicked by the two associates. The experience wouldn’t be complete without the coffee corner, which adds warmth and friendliness to the place, featuring high ceilings and large windows. They serve all kinds of drinks, as well as a few bites, including pastries.

At the Hibou Café adjoining the store, we offer a range of drinks — caffeinated or not — and snacks.

As for the store itself, there are lamps, rugs, crockery, mirrors, candles, bedding… in the sober colors that characterize Hibou’s style. For people who live further away or who don’t want to try the trip, the essentials — except for the large pieces of furniture — can also be found on the website.

Interestingly, while surfing the online store, one can choose to shop by sorting by projects, among those made by the design studio over the years. “It started because we were getting a lot of questions on our Instagram account. People would ask us, “Where did you get that vase? Where is this table from? And from there, that’s what inspired us to create a “create the look” section on our site, where people can click on the project that interests them, and see all the products that are offered in our online store. »

The shop, the cafe, none of that happened by accident, however, specifies Eugenia. “Having a storefront has always been part of the plan. We had the dream of one day opening a design and decoration store,” she adds, pointing out that the interior design branch of the Hibou brand has been in existence since 2016.
